Warner Robins is a large city located in central Georgia. It is positioned in Houston County and is the largest city located therein. In 2016, the United States Census Bureau reported Warner Robins had a population of about 74,000. It is the 10th largest city in the State of Georgia. Warner Robins is located about 100 miles south of Atlanta, the largest city in Georgia. Columbus is located about 90 miles west of Warner Robins.
Warner Robins began as Wellston, a little hamlet with a population of 52 residents. When World War II began Wellston was chosen as the site for an Army Air Corps Depot. The depot was named in honor of Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins and the city continues to bear the name today. In 1943, Warner Robins was chartered and incorporated by an act of the Georgia Assembly. Warner Robins experienced a decline in its population following the end of World War II. However, the city was able to bounce back and ranks as one of the fastest growing cities in Georgia.
Today, Warner Robins is a beautifully developed city. It is located in the economically successful heart of Georgia, providing residents wonderful job opportunities.
